The Shailer Family

Shailer Family Farm
The Original home on Francis and Mary Anne Shailer's Farm.

The Sanctuary is being developed on part of the "Shailer Farm" which has been in the family for over 100 years. The estate takes up most of the old Shailer farm land, which  was the winner of several awards for farming. The "Shailer" name is synonymous with Daisy Hill... Shailer Park...Shailer Road.

Upon settling in the Daisy Hill area, the Shailer family pioneered the area by commencing clearing and logging to develop their future farm land. Crops grown were cotton, maize, fruit and later sugarcane was also planted in what became a prosperous farm.

The Shailer's took a keen interest in the affairs of the district including the local government. In 1982 Glen Shailer (eldest brother of Mark) became Mayor of Logan City. He also served as a councillor of the area for 18 years.

Mark Shailer, aged 80, is the second son of Nanny and Alfred Shailer. Mark still resides on part of the property. Rix Developments purchased the balance of the old farm from Mark in 2002 to develop The Sanctuary.

Nanny Shailer's (Mark's mother) original homestead is part of Mark's Land. Nanny passed away at the age of 101 and her house has been kept as part of the heritage of the area.

It is with the blessing of the Shailer's that this new phase of Daisy Hill is ushered in....The Sanctuary.
